NavigationJW Biography

Jeremy was your average kid that loved to play all kinds of sports. Growing up inland he didn’t go to the beach much, but went when he got the opportunity and stayed in the water all day.

It wasn’t until the middle of his freshman year at the ripe age of 15 that his best friend Kevin Jenkins introduced him to the sport of bodyboarding, showing him bodyboarding videos, magazines, and taking him to the beach. Jeremy knew this was something that would be for him! His competitive nature kicked in and he started putting in 100% into bodyboarding. He would wake up every day before school to be the first one in the lineup, watch bodyboarding videos non stop, and study all the old magazines. He never looked back and progressed quickly. He started to compete in the local amateur circuits and won the CCSA tour in 2005, CSUS tour in 2005 and 2006, and an ESA Open Championship in 2006. His mentor Giovanni Greco thought Jeremy was ready for the pro California level and signed him up to compete in the BIA pro tour. Jeremy won the BIA pro title two times. He was also selected to be on the USA team twice for the ISA World games, receiving a team bronze medal in Huntington Beach, CA and a team silver medal in Portugal.

His first serious bodyboard trip to Australia was a big eye opener. He was able to stay with the two-time World Champion Damian King! Damian was a rockstar to the young California kid gracing magazine covers, movie sections, and overall ruling the bodyboarding scene. Damian was living the dream, getting paid to travel, compete, and BODYBOARD! Jeremy saw all the hard work Damian put into the sport to bring it to the general public and the rewards that came through sponsorships. He realized that he too could do the same. It was from that day on that he knew this was what he wanted to do.
Jeremy is currently doing the US tour and ended his 2008 campaign in 6th place. The last event was his best result getting 2nd place behind Jeff Hubbard at the Salt Creek pro.

Being very goal oriented Jeremy realized he needed to work on his bigger wave riding. To accomplish this Jeremy spends a month in Hawaii every year and travels all over the world to gain the experience needed while learning from some of the best bodyboarders in the world (like Wave Rebel teammate and 6-time World Champion Guilherme Tamega). The future is looking full on for this young kid doing contests, photo, and video trips. Knowing him, he will be doing all this with a smile!

Jeremy realizes that it is going to take a lot of hard work to fulfill his dreams and the key to his success is summed up in one word - dedication. On top of all this, Jeremy is also a full time student at the University of Phoenix, studying online while he travels while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. With great family and sponsor support the sky is the limit!
