Wednesday I got to meet with Jason from JSY fitness and it was another intense but good workout. He has me doing so many cool things and explains everything to me, like why I am doing a certain excercise and how it will benefit me in the water. Next workout is going to be way harder and I am stoked!

It is official....my van Paula and I are officially done. I sold her yesterday and was pretty devastated. I learned a lot about cars because of all the trouble she gave me in the end and why not to spend $3,000 to TRY and get you car fix. Either they can fix it or cant fix it. NO in between bull crap!

Thursday was such a fun, crazy, busy, awesome, day! I got to hang out with Wave Rebel team mate and 6x World Champion Guilherme Tamega before he left on all of his world tour trips! Check back monday night to see what our day consisted of!

Last Thursday was such a good day. Nice weather, good friends and fun waves. My friend Dustin and I got wind from my friend and insanely talented photographer Jeff Yusa that a few spots of his might be good. Being home that week and not getting to much water time due to the high demand of studying and homework assignments I was more than stoked to take a mini trip to his neck of the woods to get score some waves. Later that day I got to meet up with Jason Yokobosky from JSY fitness. I had the most intense and challenging work out to date since I have been working with him. That day he really pushed my limits. The entire ride home sitting in traffic I was happy because I went through with the workout and didn't quit. Here is some advice that he shared with me that everyone should know, "You need to eat more especially the days that you are in the water for 6 hours. You will perform like an athlete when you eat like an athlete. If you take a car and run it until empty the car will no longer continue to run. Think of your body as the car and fuel it with the proper nutrients and the right amount of fuel to keep you running on full cylanders."

He challenges you but only to make you better

Someone asked me on twitter what keeps me going with the everything that I have going on. It is never one thing only. I love being inspired!! I get inspired by a lot of things but some of the top are when I watch, read or hear about someone who had a dream or goal and did everything they could to reach it. This video on Will Smith has been something that I watch almost on a daily basis and gets me fired up to go bodyboard, do HW, study, train, or even work those long hours. I hope it fires you up and makes you want to go after your dream!

This last weekend I worked in Kansas City. The first day was kind of a relaxed one which was nice. The next few days were nothing like the first. Waking up at 5am and not getting to bed till 2am due to long hours. Balancing all my school work and a full time job is challenging but like I always say I love challenges! Plus my boss and friends at work keep everything fun and exciting! I don't sleep to much on the road while I work and usually only get five hours of sleep at home daily. A quote that this janitor told me this week was, "You'll sleep enough when your dead, live it up young buck!" I couldn't help but laugh and also think that the janitor was right!

Last week I got to meet up with my coach Jacob Reeves. Each time we meet up he wants me to focus on something new. This day was carve reverses. I have been studying and watching Ben Player and Mitch Rawlins clips since I really like how they do them the best. These riders make it look so simple. I am finally doing them the way that I want them to look and I ow it to listening to Jacob. He has been wanting me to put on some weight and muscle on my body since I was only 150 pounds. I talked with Jason from JSY fitness to help me with this and he did just that. I am 162 pounds and feel GREAT! My surfing is feeling way more powerful and I feel much fitter.

The USBA schedule is officially out! I am really excited for the US Open and HAVE to do better than my 5th place finish last year. I already have my ticket to the Sandy's Beach contest thanks to ZINKA! The east coast event is a guaranteed since I have so many frequent flyer miles with my work. I am soo excited for this year and am ready to give it my all! Everyone should do, be apart and support the events they are going to be insane!!

The tour schedule

There is a lot of fun stuff going on during the US open of bodyboarding but I think everyone is looking forward to June 5th to see the most anticipated mainland bodyboarding film in the past three years! Ring of fire 2 by Rob Isambert. If you are a bodyboader and are in California you HAVE to see it, show your support and be ready to be frothing on riding waves after the premiere. If you have never been to a premiere this will be an great first one to go to!

Lately I have been soo pumped with new bodyboard magazines getting sent to my house, fun waves, new DVDs and now some classic VHS old school boogie videos! I have ALWAYS wanted to see Kauai Classic and Eppos Freak Show. My friend Sean English just so happened to have both of them and even let me borrow them! Man ohh man they were both just as good as I thought and I feel like that much more of a bodyboarder with more knowledge about the history of this amazing sport! The pioneers are LEGENDS and big respect to all they have done!

I started two new classes on the sixth a MKT 438 and COM 285 class. School is really intense. I take twice as many units as a full time student so things get gnarly!

My school calendar/schedule! Graduating this year!!

My best friend Kevin Jenkins turned 23 on the seventh! He was super busy all day. I went early that morning and wrote all over his truck windows with a paint pen! When I got there somebody already toilet papered and put balloons all over his truck it was classic! We went big at the sushi restaurant and cruised at then cruised at beach. The weather has been amazing!

I worked this weekend in St. Louis Missouri. It was a long weekend, I put in 39 hours in three days! The weather was beautiful and the venue was HUGE. I will be going to Missouri again on thursday should be another big dance competition.

My Dad turned 52 on March 31st. It was really cool because we got to celebrate as a family and just hang out. We had a big lunch and my mom made a really yummy cake!

My Aril Fools started right at 12:01 and from that time on I was getting April fooled by a bunch of my friends with phone calls, pranks etc... My friend Christina was up at that time so we went and fed the Ducks by my house checked out the view of LB at signal hill but more importantly planned how to April fools people! I got pretty owned by getting a call that the waves were pumping so I rushed to the beach to see below average waves that was a BIG let down haha

My brother Jason got tickets to the Angel Dodger game and invited me and the MOO family to go. The seats were sick and the game was even sicker! There were some die hard Dodger fans and die hard Angel fans everywhere! The Angels won and had an awesome fire work show at the end. Live sporting events are one of my favorite things to go to, they always get me really amped to train, do my best in my sport and always have no regrets!! If you get the chance to see the Angels or Dodgers do it and tell me how you liked it!

Easter this year was sweet! I didn't have to travel or go to work so going to church with the family was epic! Pastor Ray at Calvary Chapel Santa Fe Springs brought the message for sure! We had a HUGE brunch at my house, followed by hours of HW, then a break to play tennis with my brother and what do you know MORE HOMEWORK! haha My best friend Kuch aka brian and his girlfriend Cathy came by to eat some cake and tell me all about there Hawaii trip! The photos he took of his trip are really good and I can't wait to see them printed.

I got to go to Chicago for the weekend with my work. It was the biggest dance show that I have gotten to work at. We pulled some crazy hours. A few 18 hour straight days. I still had to do assignments for my classes so sleeping was almost out of the question for me haha When we first got there the weather went from being nice and sunny to the next day snowing all day and night. Chicago was a lot of fun and beautiful. I definetley wouldn't mind going back and checking way more spots out. Working over 40+ hours from Friday to Sunday I was amping for some waves right when I got home on monday. It was crazy to go from 30 degree weather in the morning to a nice 78 degree sunny day at the beach. I got a call from my team manager Matt Byzak from RXYM right when I landed to head to the beach to meet up to bodyboard and shoot some photos. I was super pumped to get in the water even though I only slept for 11 hours in three days.

First time using the Video Camera, Todays session, Zinka news and Russels B'day

This was the first time that Milo and I used the Canon Vixia HF200 camera that I purchased. We felt like little kids because we just got the camera and wanted to film the very next day no matter what the conditions were like. It was an average 2-3ft day at my local beach on December 1st. More edits with better waves coming soon!

The waves have been pretty bad where I live lately. I have been getting in the water everyday still and usually twice a day. Today I thought it was going to be a lot better but there were still some fun ones. My friend Kimleng's girlfriend Casey filmed us today. Below are a few frame grabs. Thank's Casey!!

I got to go to Detroit, Michigan for a work trip this past weekend. It is the state my mom was born. It is also where my Dad and my favorite hockey team is from, the RED WINGS! Work was fun and we clocked in some long hours. I even got to learn a bunch of new stuff which was rad! Detroit was pretty cold I think it got down to 19 degrees. The people were ultra friendly and Red Wing fans can and WILL be found EVERYWHERE!!

My friend Daniel Washburn picked me up from the Long Beach Airport and the first thing I did was go straight to the beach. The waves were nothing special but it felt awesome to get in the water after working 37 hours in three days! The next day (tuesday) I met up with my trainer Jason from JSY Fitness. I keep him in the loop daily with all of my training I do all the days that I don't get to see him along with the food I am eating. I have been lagging on my training since my HW has been very demanding and he made sure that I made up for it that day! I got to surf a wave on the way home that I never have and it was sick for all the wind swell in the water. Nothing special but with nice sunny skies and no one around why wouldn't you want to be in the water?? My friend Milo documented my first ever workout with Jason from I think December. I worked in Omaha this past weekend. It was cold, long hours but still a lot of fun! Each weekend is something new and fresh. It is really cool to see how much dedication some of these dancers have. I ran the backstage one day checking in all the dancers and as I was cleaning the stage I got called out by the DJ and the crowd to dance so while I was sweeping I put in a little performance haha So amped Andrea Lowe asked me to be her dance partner in Highschool! 17 hour work days fly by. Going to Detroit tomorrow!!

This last weekend I was flown out to Oakland to work in San Mateo. It was sweet cause I flew out of Long Beach airport which is like 10 minutes from my house. My travel partner Jack and I always have a blast on these work trips. The crew of people I am with are the coolest and I fit time to still do my homework late at night. We got to go out to this pretty sweet mexican restaurant and my friend Sabrina I killed the dance floor it was sick haha

I got home late last night from the work trip and was greeted by an email from my friend Eli saying that he was on his way to Cali to cruise with me for a few days! I was pretty amped on the 10 hour notice but couldn't be any more stoked. I have stayed with him two different times in Australia and was excited on the Idea to show him around cali. I did homework all morning and afternoon just to get a bit ahead of the game so I wouldn't have to do any while he was here. He flew in from Hawaii and we go straight into it with checking out Manhattan Beach Pier, Jamba Juice, got him situated at the house, loaded the car for the beach, had a fun session, saw an epic sunset while bodyboarding, got our grub on at In-N-Out, ( we had a 3x3 and then a 4x4!!!! soooo much food haha) checked out a bikram class for tomorrow, then I finished my HW while he cruised with my parents. The next few days are going to be super packed and so fun!

The other day my friend Jeff Yusa gave me a call to come up and surf with him at his local spot. My friend Dustin and I were stoked and shot up there to get some waves. Since I am usually not home during the winter I usually don't get to hang out with Dustin that much. This winter has been so different. We have been doing marathon sessions when the waves are good at our local spot! He beat me one day by surfing for 9 hours! Only taking a little snack and water break. He charges and is definetley someone who pushes my riding each session.
I also got to meet Jeff's friend Jeremy Philips who is a water Photographer and bodyboarder. He was a really cool guy and is heading to Hawaii in March. You can check out his blog by clicking HERE!

On Thursday my brother Jason and I got to go to the the Northern Trust Open Golf tournament! It was my first golf tournament I have been to and it was amazing! You get to see the golfers in there element like 10ft from you. They nail the golf balls so far! I learned a lot from these athletes like how focus they have to be, and the different style equipment they use. They use what works best for them not what it looks like. I mean I saw at least 9 different putter styles. After the event my brother took me to In n Out and it was the best In n Out ever!

I started a job this weekend to help pay for my school since doubling up on classes at the University of Phoenix is super expensive. I graduate in November and can not wait for it to be over haha I will be traveling every weekend which is pretty cool since I love traveling and seeing new places. I also get to keep the frequent flyer miles which is rad! I will be working 40 hours each weekend so definitely putting in some hours! The people are the best and my travel partner Jack and I get along great. I am touring for dance competitions and do anything from videoing, set up and tear down, burning dvds, selling product, anything really. They said my personality is perfect for the backstage coordinator and I liked that position the most. I get to check in all the dancers, get them siked up, and flirt with some really HOT dance instructors haha I got to see so many amazing dance routines and hear a bunch of the dancers stories on how much they train and all the sacrifices that they make to be the best. It was really inspiring and got me fired up to NOT slack on my training and to take advantage of all my water time. This cute dance instructor wrote this on a napkin for me along with her number which I gave to Jack hahaha, "Sacrifice= If you want something you've never had...you must be willing to do something you've never done" True!!

Waves, Kreed Sunglasses and January 25th Video

The waves have been good lately. In the last 6 days I have surfed a total of 27 hours! Everyday kind of blurred together. My day's were the same wake up early eat breakfast with my parents, read, go to the beach, boogie all day, go to yoga and study all night!
I had two finals that I completed in this time to! MGT 307 and MGT 350. I passed both classes and learned a lot of new information. Classes have been very challenging and doubling up has required so much of my time! I just started FIN 370 today and it seems like a sweet class! Plus my teacher who I will never meet lived in Long Beach for 10 years and now lives on the beach and traveled his whole life! Pretty sweet!
I will be posting some more shots from the past few days along with some frame grabs of a bunch of my friends and I from Saturday when Robert Isambert came to down to film for his video Ring of Fire 2.

Nick Arant shot this of me on Friday. He has been getting some really cool angels. He is the type of person who picks up on anything he is into so fast. I can't wait for his website to be up! Its gonna be sick!! You guy's will be some of the first to hear about it on this very site :)

The waves have been good and most of my time has been spent in the water. Im still doing my Yoga classes with my friend Shephanie and Chelsea and its been awesome! Things have been busy! I have been having a crazy amount of reading for school, long papers to write and of course studying!
I got the green light to get in the water on the 11th and went straight to the beach that day. The next day I got summoned to Jury duty and spent all day there. From then on I have been in the water pretty much every day and loving it! I also got to have a sick session with Mark Klein while he was here and go with RXYM team mate Drew Erichson to film down south for there video "This is the END"
I still don't have my Van. Every time I get it back the problem isn't fixed %100 its such a bummer! On top of that I left my camera in it!! Uggg

Today was pretty awesome. Josh Shelly and my coach Jacob Reeves came from up north to surf some waves with me. It was crazy windy stormy surf and the lifeguard was not stoked on us going out at all. In fact Jacob and I were the only guys out. We got a bunch of beatings which is always fun haha

How the wisdom teeth surgery went, Yoga, Spider Energy Drink, and New phone

I actually don't remember anything from my wisdom teeth surgery at all. When I woke up in the little bed area they walked me to my mom's car. I slept while my mom drove. When we got to our house I was super out of it from all the drugs and just remember walking to my room and collapsing while hitting my head on the wall and was out, just like that! haha My little mexican mom and couldn't move me for the life of her. She called the Doctors and while she was calling them my good friends Jacob, Micah and Matt just happened to stop by my house to say what's up. (A lot of my friends stop by my house daily to hang out, watch bodyboard videos, do HW, eat, etc...) They were busting up laughing and finally picked me up, got me in my bed and four hours later I finally woke up. The crazy thing was that I don't remember a thing. I didn't even knew my friends came by until my mom told me.
The road to recovery has felt like forever but its only been six days. I have been doing a lot of resting and a lot of HW. My diet is pretty much apple sauce, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, protein drinks, soups etc... Easy foods. I have lost weight which is not good. I usually eat 5-8 meals a day, YES I eat a lot haha
To stay in shape I haven't been able to train really hard yet so I started to go on hour walks, signed up for a Yoga class which I spend atleast 3 hours a day at, and as of today doing light workouts. Im trying to take it easy, rest a lot and just keep these huge holes in my mouth CLEAN and not get infected!
I met with the Doctor yesterday and he said that I would be out of the water for at least another week. Since the waves will be good I have another meeting on tuesday to see if I can get in the water earlier but is very doubtful. The doctors son is a surfer so he knows how dirty the water is by where we live and it is pretty much a guaranteed staph infection ready to happen if I try and rush it. This time last year while I was in Hawaii my best friend Brian got staph from our local spot and it Sucked for him. So I am not in any rush to get sick and possibly ruin or not be able to go on my Hawaii trip which is for over a month.
I will be watching the loads bodyboard videos to stay siked, training as much as I can, and getting ahead in all my school work.

I got a new phone before my surgery. The new droid from Motoralla. I think it does everything you can imagine and was awesome. I just didnt like certain things about it so today I returned it and got the other droid phone. It's lighter and I like it way more! The guy who helped us out was also a bodyboarder who went to my same High School as I did which was pretty cool. My sponsor Bodyglove makes a case for the phone I have to!

One of Ron's best friends Shawn Meredith got hurt that day in the shorebreak. I got him out of the water and onto the sand. Really sad that he will be out of the water. He fractured his ankle and his fibula (near his knee). He also tore his ligament that holds his ankle together. He has surgery on Tuesday the 5th and will be down for 3 months! Pray for a quick recovery for him

I finally got my van back and my friend Kimleng took me to pick it up. It was working fine but started to act up again on saturday so I have to take it back.

Later that day I met up with some friends to play handball. I try and do anything to stay active and hand ball wounded up being really fun, and of course it got competitive but in the end I did not end up the champ haha That night we watched the Travis Pastrana jump and went to a few friends parties downtown.

Christmas eve was pretty awesome! I finished my Michael Jordan Book, "Driven From Within." I got this book for Christmas last year from my best friend Kevin and planned on reading it in December to get that extra motivation and get ready for 2010!My parents and I got to eat some menudo and champurrado at my there best friends house and on top of that we ate at my aunt Nancy's in laws place for Tamales!!

Christmas day was a time to relax for my parents and I. With my brother Jason in Australia with his family and my oldest brother Josh with his wife's family that left my parents and I together and it was sweet! We all slept in (which is rare) opened are presents, my mom made a killer breakfast then we all got ready to go to the Movies! We saw Avatar in 3d along with Invictus. Both of them were good!

My van is still getting worked on so instead of going up north or down south I stayed home and surfed locally. The waves were really fun! I love surfing at home because I see the older generation guys who I watched while I was growing up in the water and I also get to see the younger kids who are coming up and see how much they are progressing from each swell! On sunday I got to bodyboard for 7 hours! My friend Dustin beat me and was out for 9 hours!!! Crazy!!

Monday was a repeat of Sunday. The only thing was that it was smaller, and more crowded. I was out for 5 hours and my friend Dustin was out for 4.5! Barely beat him haha Milo also filmed for an hour since that is how long my battery last for on my video camera and will be making a quick fun edit. There was still swell up north and down south but my Dad had different plans for me since the waves were not that good close to home. He made sure I stayed busy from cleaning the rain gutters, pulling weeds, washing dishes, cleaning the house, etc.. He still is the BEST dad in the world!!

Yesterday I got to do my second workout session with Jason Yokobosky from JSY fitness!! He is keeping me in shape for my upcoming Hawaii trip in February. After our workout I went and surfed some headhigh plus closeout waves in LA just for a paddle. I kind of tweaked my ankle while I was duckdiving when the lip landed right on it. I am going to try and take it easy the next few days and get everything ready for 2010 and rest my ankle.

Early Christmas, Mechanic, KREED and waiting for waves

The waves have been small and bad around where I live with the occasional fun day. I started to get a little sick so I opted to catch up on my rest and not spend so much time in the water and training. I also have been able to hang out with so many of my friends, have fun and just enjoy some time being home! It has been EPIC but I can't wait for some waves to come!!!
My family celebrated Christmas a little early because my brother, his wife, and my niece will be in Australia for Christmas. It was fun to open presents early and have a huge meal, especially when you know that there are way more Christmas dinners coming! STOKED!

A few days ago my van Paula started to act up which I knew couldn't be good. I took her to Ed the mechanic and found out the headgasket was blown! It is a pricey operation and will cost me $1,500! Pretty bummed but she's worth it and we have way more road trips to go on and waves to search for so its a must to get her running well again.

Staying Busy

To sum up these last 13 days would be the longest blog ever! It has been really challenging adjusting to doubling up on my classes since I have been traveling up and down the coast a lot because the waves have been good, bodyboarding pretty much non stop, training, family time, meetings etc.. Like anything new that you take on it takes time to learn how you are going to pull it all off. My christmas break starts on the 22nd. I am really looking forward to that time so I can come up with a plan that will allow me to do everything that I need and want to do while keeping my grades up. These last 13 days have been filled with good times, lots of waves, lots of driving, and now lots of Homework!

Rob Isambert was also filming for his new video Ring Of Fire 2! The guys I got to bodyboard with that day were all time! and awesome friends. I went to Santa Monica on thursday to meet with Jason Yokobosoky aka JSY FITNESS. I will be training with him one on one once a week until I leave to Hawaii. Since the waves are not as consistent where I live I have to keep my self prepared for when the waves do get good and this will be a great motivational tool to train with him. Milo came to document our first workout which was total madness but also the greatest thing ever! I also got to meet up with my team manager Matt "Chewy" from bodyglove and my friend Sean English to surf there local spot. I also got to surf my local break when I got home later that day.

I took a quick three day trip up North to get some waves. Friday was a great day. I got two sick sessions in along with getting to go rock climb with my friend Brett. The next day the waves still had size but the weather and wind were bad. I still had a fun session but knew that I had to get home and focus on my ACC 280 final. No riding shots from this trip, just memories :)

Today was gloomy and rainy. I just finished my ACC 280 final. It was one of those classes that you just want to be done with, so happy to be done with it!!! Tomorrow I start a new class and will begin doubling up on my classes so I can graduate sooner! I am looking forward to this challenge since it is going to require a lot more studying and way more school work but being able to graduate in 2010 and be DONE with school will be soo worth it!
I met with Dr.Albern who will be doing my wisdom teeth removal surgery. I changed the date from Friday to Monday so I can have more time to surf this swell. It should be big and picking the right place to go is going to be HUGE with this wind and weather.

I have been getting in the water every day even though the waves haven't been the best. When I get home from the beach I go straight into training. I have found it easier to start training right when I get home or otherwise it can be easier to talk myself out of it or ill get caught up with homework, my to do list or other things that come up.
I am reading a Michael Jordan book right now and a sweet quote I just read was, "If you try, then you can't fail. You failed if you don't try."

I just took my older brother Jason to the airport a few days ago. He is off to Israel! I can't wait to hear all the awesome stories he is going to have and photos!

Yesterday I had to go to the eye doctor along with the dentist. My bottom teeth have been have been getting a little cricket and when I brought it up to my dentist she took X-rays. The X-Rays showed that my two bottom wisdom teeth were coming in side ways and under my gums! Not good! Since I am finally home for a bit I am going to be getting them removed next friday. I have been hearing horror stories from everyone so im not to stoked.
There is swell right now up north and I just finished loading my van up and will be heading up there . I can't wait to ride some good waves!!!
